As a serious cyclist, I had for a number of years looked to Ginny’s Pilates classes to try to correct what cycling did (tightening specific muscles and creating muscular imbalance) and didn’t do (strengthening my core so that power in my legs wasn’t lost in translation to the rest of my body).

Then, I had a serious accident on my bike, colliding with a tractor and trailer and being airlifted to hospital with major trauma to my right torso. Rehabilitation with broken ribs, collar bone, shoulder blade and nerve damage to my right arm was never going to be easy and the fact I couldn’t lie on my right side ruled out a return to Pilates classes. However, Ginny came to my rescue by providing one on one sessions at home, working within the range of what I could do. These sessions were vital, not just for my physical mobility but also for keeping my head together – goals would be set and I would be gently pushed to improve by the next session.

As a result, my rehabilitation was way ahead of expectations and, when I saw my neuro-surgeon, he explained that many people (particularly at my age) didn’t ever make the recovery I had already made. Thanks to Ginny’s support and encouragement, I am back to serious cycling (much to the concern of my wife!) and continuing to improve the range of movement in my right shoulder and my general fitness.

Ginny helped me greatly when I was struggling with a prolapsed disc in my back. She was methodical, and very thorough in her analysis. Her background in physiotherapy was very relevant, and I felt enabled to help my own recovery with the clearly notated and demonstrated exercise that Ginny tailored to my need.

Ginny’s underlying anatomical knowledge is outstanding, and really allows her to tailor each exercise to any individual needs, in a warm and understanding manner. The classes are friendly, fun, and Ginny keeps them limited to small numbers, which allows for personal attention if needed.
